THE WELSHPOOL & LLANFAIR LIGHT RAILWAY
| This line, 2'6", opening in 1903 operated by Cambrian Railways to serve the rural community between Welspool and Llanfair Caereinion, a distance of some 9 miles. In 1923 the railway was taken over by the Great Western which later became absorbed by BR, closure came in 1956 with the last train running in November of that year.A Preservation Society was later formed restoring the line to its present splendid condition as seen today, with a relocated station at Welshpool and a varied collection of locomotives. |
