TALYLLYN RAILWAY
| This line, 2'3" gauge, was constructed in 1865 to carry slate from the Bryn Eglws quarry, Abergynolwyn, to a standard gauge interchange at Towyn known as Wharf Station a distance of about 6 miles.With the demise of the quarry the line was kept open for passenger traffic until 1950, a preservation society was set up in 1951, the first to restore a narrow gauge railway in Wales. |
