WELSH HIGHLAND RAILWAY Ltd.

This railway commenced passenger operations in August 1980 between Porthmadog and Pen-Y-Mount, a distance of about 3/4 mile, with aspirations to reinstate the Welsh Highland railway between Porthmadog and Dinas. After protracted negotiations lasting several years to aquire the old trackbed, title was eventually aquired by the Ffestiniog Railway. WHR Ltd offered to extend their track to Pont Croesor thus providing a link to the advancing WHR.
